Women are playing a critical role in shaping the future of climate action.Across the world, women are leading grassroots initiatives. Feminist leadership principles are influencing policy and building resilient communities in the face of climate challenges. Their leadership then brings valuable local knowledge, collaborative approaches and long-term community-focused solutions.Recent data also shows that women are 2.5x more likely to take action on climate issues. It is highlighting the importance of investing in women’s education, representation and leadership to accelerate environmental progress.Recognition of women in environmental leadership continues to grow globally. This year’s Green Novel Prize 2026 honored six winners (listed below), all women, whose work is helping drive meaningful change across different regions and communities.Alannah Acaq Hurley (USA)Borim Kim (South Korea)Iroro Tanshi (Nigeria)Sarah Finch (UK)Theonila Roka Matbob (Papua New Guinea)Yuvelis Morales Blanco (Colombia) We are very proud to spot two great women from Asia among the winners!🌟Climate action and gender equality are deeply connected. Empowering more women to lead is not only a step toward equity, but also toward a more sustainable future for everyone.🌸🌿
AktivAsia Indonesia has successfully organized a facilitation and Training of Trainers “Katalis” on 4-7 May 2026.Our session emphasized that facilitation is more than leading meetings or delivering trainings. We wanted to highlight that it is not about becoming the “expert” in the room, but growing together through all the process. ✨ From PPLH Puntondo, Sulawesti Selatan, Indonesia, joined by enthusiastic participants, we explored facilitation as something engaging, creative and alive. We also made sure that a facilitation is a practice that is not boring or rigid, but grounded in participation, collaboration and movement-building toward more equal spaces. In the end of the discussion, we are learning how to navigate dynamics, hold space and share collective knowledge. Because good facilitation doesn’t just shape forums. It can shape the way we organize to make a solid foundation for our movement. 🌱AktivAsia Indonesia remains committed to supporting Indonesia climate movement through campaign strategy and leadership training.

An inspiring convergence happened during Tagpuan PH 2026! Last March 30 at PRRM in Quezon City, partners and alumni of AktivAsia in the Philippines gathered for an afternoon filled with conversations and synergies – reminding us of the importance of shared and safe learning spaces for collective action. This year's Tagpuan started with a panel discussion on the link between climate and clean air as a potential entry point to climate work. It was followed by an activity in thematic groups where participants shared their wins, lessons, and challenges across campaigns on clean air, renewable energy in sectors, climate solutions, and intersectionality in climate action. These sessions surfaced concrete ideas for collaboration and commitments to carry forward in 2026. The day closed with reflections, where participants shared key takeaways and appreciations for the collective spirit of Tagpuan, and continuing the conversations in a more relaxed setting at Harong Cafe.We are deeply grateful to all partners, friends, and networks who joined us and shared their voices. Your energy and insights made Tagpuan PH 2026 a true celebration of solidarity and action.💚
What will happen in two years if we keep neglecting our environment? What will occur in three years if we continue to take everything for granted? What will arise in four years if we close our eyes from the real threat of climate change?Climate change brings global severity to our Earth. It can cause turbulence now while we breath, in short-term about two years from now and eventually in the future long-term. Some people has already been fighting for the risks of global change, but is it enough? Here in Asia, we come together at the front-liner with our community and grassroots movement to protect our environment. From the dirty politicians and greedy capitalism who care only about profit, thus forgetting the people and planet. At least in two years time, the biggest disasters caused by climate change includes geoeconomic confrontation, misinformation and disinformation as well as societal polarization, all of which we have already seem right now. If the environmental concerns are still being deprioritized, the long term crisis such as extreme weather events and ecosystem collapse will surely happen. The time is now to make a real actions! At AktivAsia, we want to raise more awareness through impactful strategic climate campaign. We ought to make sure that everyone has all relevant informations to prevent the all the global disasters caused by climate change from happening. However small it may seem, collaborative actions matters.
Regional collaboration is one of AktivAsia’s strong points in fighting climate change across Asia. Recently, we took a week to gather and strategise together at hashtag#AktivAsia’s team gathering in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Our members came from different countries: India, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Korea, Pakistan and as Australia. We were skilfully held and expertly guided by facilitators Tracy Frauzel and Neha Saigal from Intertidal Lab. We sat down together and analysed “big picture” current trends in the countries and region we work and play. From there we co-created more relevant curriculum to support learning, growth and expansion in the Asia region. AktivAsia has been working on movement building, with a focus on strategic campaigning and climate ecosystem leadership in Asia. Looking forward, we will strengthen our collaboration between our teams and allumni to created more impactful climate action. Thank to our awesome hashtag#AktivAsia team members for their energy and input. Also a huge shout out to our new Founding Board Members Ming Yu HAH, Cesar Carlito Baclagon, Tom G., Neha Saigal and Linh Do who kindly joined us at the hashtag#AktivAsia Team Meeting 2026! It was so much fun! Added to our core memory already: from morning meditation and reflection to our constructive brainstorming session! We hope our members take the energy and spirit of this special time together and be sustained through this retreat.
From landslides to polluted waters, people living on the front lines continue to face the harsh realities of destructive industrial practices - and their voice matters. At AktivAsia, our mission is to train and empower activists and community leaders who are driving real change at local and national levels to combat the climate crisis. Across Asia, grassroots organizations are rising — yet an estimated 80% still lack access to effective climate justice campaign tools and training. We believe that by enabling accessible education and training, we can ignite collective power to create people-powered movements that accelerate real, lasting change for our communities, our planet and a better future for all. As the devastating impacts of climate change intensify, and political and industrial leaders continue to fall short, we stand with activists to support people-powered movements that shape a sustainable and just future. We are here for a thriving tomorrow, built by skilled, determined and empowered communities. Together, we can ignite movements and accelerate change.
AktivAsia has succesfully held 5 days 6 nights workshop “Belantara” in Indonesia. Belantara as a word in Bahasa Indonesia means "wilderness" but it is also an achronym for “Belajar, Angjangsana dalam Setara“ which translated into "Learning and Gathering in Equality!" Just like the name of this program, we were joined by 25 participants in Purwokerto, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia, to discuss about organisation, public naration, advocacy and strategic campaigning. In between of the workshops, we also learned the Purwokerto’s local culture through games, movies or just chilling with each other. Our core mission through this program are to support leading activists to distribute efficient campaigns for variety of climate problems, from environment problems to social justice and human rights. Once again, huge congratulations to all participants who has graduated from Belantara! And thank you very much to everyone across AktivAsia for made this possible! See you on our next Belantara! Let’s keep on working together to ignite movements, accelerate change.
